Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Daily Basis

  • Ensure menus are printed & ready prior to start of service
  • Ensure all FOH staff are assigned to positions & ready at start of service
  • Ensure all stations are stocked & ready at start & end of service
  • Keep list of items that we need & communicate with Chef, Innkeeper or sommelier
  • Meet with Chef & FOH staff for pre-shift meetings
  • Oversee the business flow and assist in the restaurant where needed
  • Manage/maximize staff hours in restaurant during shift
  • Ensure all cocktails are consistent and of high quality
  • Communicate with kitchen on needs of guests/tables
  • Deal with guest complaints and comments related to the restaurant
  • Build relationships with guests & staff
  • Motivate and train staff as needed
  • Hold FOH staff accountable for all side duties
  • Ensure all restaurant staff drop cash & receipts daily/nightly

Position Summary:
The Assistant Innkeeper is responsible for the daily routine of the inn and acts for the inn manager when necessary. The job responsibilities vary each day depending on the activities of the guests and related events.
The Assistant Innkeeper must be highly service-oriented, have excellent customer relation skills, exemplary communication skills, both verbal and written, have excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and be a “team player”. Must understand and be able to use various technology and social media outlets.

Employee should be in good physical condition as duties can be physically demanding, involving walking, standing, bending, climbing stairs, reaching and lifting.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Greet guests, answer phone calls, reply to emails and provide exemplary customer service to all guests and vendors.
• Respond as quickly as possible to all guest inquiries for overnight accommodations, encouraging guests to make reservations.
• Expand and maintain company database.
• Manage daily operations including breakfast preparation and clean up, light general cleaning, guest room cleaning, and laundry as needed.
• Maintain calendar of events and property management system.
• Be knowledgeable of the area being served in order to give advice and make suggestions for activities and services to guests. Also, to be able to provide on-going competitive analysis for planning purposes. Participate in the creating of special events, packages and seek creative opportunities to market the property and its capabilities to the community.
• At all times, insure that all laws regulated by the applicable health department and the Virginia ABC are enforced and maintained.
• Assist housekeepers as needed with guest rooms cleaning.
• Oversee common areas, including kitchen cleanup and public restrooms.
• Assist in managing inventory of cleaning supplies, room amenities, beverage supplies.
• Social Media and Marketing-limited role, assist as needed

Compensation Package includes the following:
Hourly wages paid every other Friday. Additional compensation is earned with quarterly bonus based on upselling guest related extras.

Position Summary: This position will be scheduled as business dictates. Successful Employee will have a flexible schedule that will provide for him/her to be available on short notice. Normal hours will be Wednesday through Sunday 6:30am-11:30am (25+ hours per week). This position will be responsible for breakfast preparation, line set-up, cooking to order, and breakdown. This position will also assist with special events. This employee will also assist in inventory management and ordering, dishwashing, kitchen maintenance, and other related kitchen responsibilities.

Asst. Housekeeper
Location: The Henry Clay Inn - , Virginia 114 N. Railroad Ave. 23005

Position Summary: This position will report directly to the Head Housekeeper, and be supervised by the Inn Managers.  This position will be on a part-time basis as needed. Primary shifts will be Saturdays and Sundays for six hours per day….approximately 12 hours per week. But other weekly hours may become available as business dictates. Successful employee will have a flexible schedule and be available on a quick turnaround basis.

Job responsibilities will include but not be limited to:

  • Checking in at the front desk to get rooms report and to see which rooms are a priority cleaning and any special accommodations that need to be addressed.
  • Checking at beginning and end of shift to be sure that all cleaning supplies that are needed are either available or on order. All supply orders must be conveyed to the Head Housekeeper.
  • Clean the rooms designated for check-out. Cleaning is to include changing out bed linens, dusting entire room, checking all drawers for any items left in drawers (designated items will be allowed for drawers, outdated magazines and periodicals will be discarded), closet will be checked to be sure that only HCI hangers and appointments are left in closet any wire hangers or personal belongings of prior guest will be removed and discarded. Bathroom will be thoroughly cleaned including tub, tile, faucets, toilet, and shelving. All soaps, toilet paper, towels, and incidentals will be brought up to par. Carpet will be thoroughly vacuumed. Rooms will be checked out and approved by Head Housekeeper or Inn Manager after each cleaning.
  • Dirty laundry will be bagged and prepared to be taken over to Laundry Junction. Either the Assistant Housekeeper or Head Housekeeper will be responsible for taking laundry or picking up laundry and restoring clean linens to inventory.
  • Guest laundry that needs same day service will be collected by housekeeping and communication with Princess Laundry will inform them of a laundry pick-up. This schedule will be managed and maintained by housekeeping.
  • All supplies will be inventoried and an order recommendation will be turned into the Inn Managers for approval prior to ordering.

  • Make iced tea
  • Ensure station is stocked and ready for service
  • Ensure all condiments are stocked ie: ketchups
  • Setup bread station
  • Ensure station is stocked and ready for service ie: butter
  • If butter falls below 1 sheet pan, make a low call to chef
  • Ensure the dirty linens bag in kitchen is in place and not overflowing. If needed take full bag to general store and replace with empty bag.
  • Find where you will be assigned for the day ie: porch, upper, etc.
  • Ensure your station is stocked and ready for service ie: water, napkins, tea, etc.

Closing Sidework

  • Ensure all polishing is complete before leaving and put away properly
  • All linens are stocked and napkins folded
  • Ensure all the dirty linens are placed in bag in kitchen and if needed take full bag to general store and replace with empty bag.
  • Ensure coffee/tea station & bread station are clean and stocked
  • Ensure all condiments are stocked ie: ketchups
  • Ensure we have 2 bottles of bloody mary mix
  • Milk in fridge
  • Take trash and recycling to dumpster
