Centrally located to the area, the Inn is the perfect starting point for many different activities. Explore the Chesapeake Bay Wine Trail; visit the birthplaces of George Washington and Robert E. Lee; take a boat trip to Ingleside winery or Tangier Island, kayak or canoe one of the many rivers; bike or hike the many birding trails or enjoy a day trip to Yorktown, Williamsburg or Fredericksburg. Or, just step out the front door of the inn and take a historic walking tour of over twenty buildings dating as far back as the 17th century and end your tour with crab cakes at Lowery’s, a Tappahannock tradition for over seventy years.

The four romantic bedrooms in the Main House feature four-posted beds custom made from wood salvaged from piers made of 300-year-old Cyprus trees and have working gas fireplaces or electric stoves and modern baths with tub/showers.

The “Quarters” is a separate building that dates back prior to 1850 and was once used as the servants’ quarters. It features four suites. Each spacious suite has a living room, kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and working fireplace. The suites are perfect for guests looking for their own space and offer the ultimate privacy. They are also ideal for guests needing two separate bed, guests with pets, and guests planning extended stays. Three suites can sleep up to 3 people.

Revive and relax in the gracious salon with its fireplace, TV and lovely ambiance. Or the Library complete with books, games, puzzles and fireplace; the screened-in porch overlooking the garden, the back porch with rocking chairs; or the private brick courtyard.

Included in the rate is a full three-course breakfast offered each morning from 8:30 to 9:00 AM and the well-stock Butler’s Pantry which offers a variety of snacks, beverages, wine and beer and is available at all times.
